Acupuncture in Lichfield
At Reinhabit Acupuncture, treatments focus on restoring balance in the body and supporting your physical and emotional wellbeing through traditional Five Element acupuncture.
What can acupuncture help with?
Treatment can be helpful for a wide variety of conditions:-
Stress and anxiety, where acupuncture can help calm the nervous system and support emotional stability.
Digestive complaints such as bloating, irregular bowel movements or abdominal discomfort, helping to regulate digestive function.
Sleep problems can also improve as treatment supports deeper relaxation and helps the body shift out of a constant “fight or flight” state.
Physical pain and chronic conditions.
Long-term conditions such as fibromyalgia or osteoarthritis can see improvements in pain levels, energy and overall wellbeing.
While acupuncture is not a cure for complex conditions, many patients find it to be a valuable way of supporting the body, improving comfort and helping them feel more balanced in day-to-day life.
How often are treatments and how many treatments should I have?
In early treatment patients should attend clinic on a weekly basis for at least the first 5 treatments as there is a strong cumulative benefit to receiving treatment and patients must be patient and not expect miracles in a couple of sessions .
Progress will be measured and tracked across these sessions and if there is good improvement in the primary complaint then treatments will be spaced at longer intervals.
Once there has been a strong improvement in a patient, I often find that patients come at longer intervals for maintenance to ensure there is no relapse of a condition.
What does acupuncture feel like?
Many people worry that acupuncture might hurt because it involves needles. However, the needles used in acupuncture are extremely thin—much finer than those used for injections.
Most patients feel little pain when the needles are inserted. Some describe it as a tingling sensation or a mild dull ache, which usually fades quickly but this varies dependent on the patient and the area of the body. The goal is always comfort and relaxation.
What can I Expect During an Acupuncture Session?
If you’re new to acupuncture, your first session might feel a little mysterious. Typically, the session starts with a discussion about your health concerns, followed by a physical assessment.
Once the treatment begins, you’ll lie comfortably while fine needles are gently inserted into specific points. Most people find acupuncture deeply relaxing and often feel a sense of calm or relief during and after their treatment.
What is 5 element acupuncture?
Five Element acupuncture is a traditional style of acupuncture that focuses on restoring balance within the whole person rather than simply treating isolated symptoms. This powerful system of acupuncture is rooted in the belief that the body, mind and spirit are interconnected, meaning physical symptoms can be the outcome of issues with mind and spirit.
Rooted in classical Chinese philosophy, it recognises five elemental energies in nature — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water — which are also reflected in the body and mind. When these elements are in balance, our physical health, emotional wellbeing and resilience tend to function smoothly. When one or more become out of balance, it can contribute to a range of physical or emotional symptoms. Treatment aims to identify and support the element that needs help, encouraging the body’s natural ability to rebalance and heal.
Because Five Element acupuncture looks at the whole person and means that every treatment plan is bespoke to each person.
